Lapis Lazuli has been mined in the province of Afghanistan for 6,500 years, lapis jewelry has been found at Predynastic Egyptian sites, and lapis beads at Neolithic burials in Mehrgarh, the Caucasus, and even as Mauritania.
The Romans believed that lapis was a powerful aphrodisiac. In the Middle Ages, it was thought to keep the limbs healthy, and free the soul from error, envy and fear.
Lapis lazuli is regarded by many people around the world as the stone of friendship and truth. The blue stone is said to encourage harmony in relationships and help its wearer to be authentic and give his or her opinion openly.
When working or meditating with Lapis Lazuli, it can bring matters more clearly to the mind. It is one of the most powerful stones and should be used with care. The ancient Egyptians used Lapis Lazuli as a symbol of truth.
Sodalite is a rich royal blue mineral; its appearance has some similarities to Lapis Lazuli. Discovered in 1806 in Greenland, Sodalite did not become important as an ornamental stone until 1891 when vast deposits of fine material were discovered in Ontario, Canada.
It has since been named Princess Blue after Princess Patricia who, upon visiting Ontario some time after its discovery, chose Sodalite as interior decoration for Marlborough House in England.
Sodalite helps to calm and clear the mind, promoting understanding of ones life path and reducing obstacles to spiritual growth. Sodalite can help to verbalise ones true feeling and beliefs, as well as aid balancing the logical and intuitive mental processes.
It is also said to aid the metabolism and lymphatic system, enhance self-esteem and bring acceptance, joy and relief to a heavy heart.
Morganite – Pink Beryl is also known in the jewellery trade as Pink Emerald or Pink Beryl and has long been declared the official gemstone for Valentine’s Day.
Morganite was first discovered with other gemstone minerals like tourmaline in Pala, California, early in the twentieth century.
As a pink stone Morganite cleanses and activates the Heart Chakra, calming a stressed life and benefiting the nervous system. It is said to attract love into your life, encouraging loving thoughts and actions, creating space to enjoy life and living.
Morganite can help you become aware of ignored, unfulfilled needs and to aid you in recognising and releasing unexpressed feelings and emotions.
Morganite is also very good at treating stress and stress-related illness, and a powerful stone for dissolving conscious or unconscious resistance to healing and transformation, opening the heart to receive unconditional love and healing.Tweet
