Jasmine instead of Valium!

Jasmine

Professor Hanns Hatt published results online in the Journal of Biological Chemistry that demonstrates evidence of a scientific basis for aromatherapy. Brain scans showed the effect on a chemical called GABA on nerve cells was enhanced by the fragrances and helped soothe, relieve anxiety and promote rest. They tested hundreds of fragrances and discovered that Jasmine increased the GABA effect by more than five times, it acted as strongly as sedatives, sleeping pills and relaxants. Jasmine was pioneered by the ancient Greeks an Egyptians and is widely used in aromatherapy due to its healing effects. Inhaling the jasmine molecules transmits a message to the part of the brain that controls emotions. It has long been touted as a natural remedy for fatigue, depression, stress and anxiety and this study seems to support the affect it can have on biological factors like heart rate, breathing and blood pressure.
