Fairies
Just like the word ‘magik’, there are many different ways of spelling ‘faery’. Being a Celtic lass, this is my favourite. So, what are faeries, and where can we find them?
Faeries, just like angels, are closer to us than most of us realise. And never are they closer to us than in times of crisis. Faeries have drawn closer to us than ever recently, as our planet, sadly, becomes more fragile.
As those of us with an interest know, faeries belong to the natural world and if we allow ourselves to become closer to them so we become closer to the natural world. Think how you feel after an hour in the garden on a beautiful summer’s day. That’s because, wittingly or otherwise, you have been spending time with the magical faeries in your garden and you have become infused with their gentle vibrations. You may feel, just for a moment, as you did in childhood, aware of that magical, mystical, maybe even a little mischievous, energy!
Next question – why are there faeries? Well, the function of a faery is to guide, guard and nurture our living planet, and we who live on it. Why can’t we see them (for there will be those of you who haven’t, of course!). Because very often faeries will mirror nature in their manifestation, in other words they will take on the physical characteristics of the plant they are linked to, thereby they have the perfect disguise and can blend into the environment around them like the shapeshifters they are!
Ok, then are there different types of faery? The answer is yes, there are four main breeds, and within these there are many ‘fey’ (faery folk) which belong to each category. Firstly we have the Elemental Faeries who are basically our nature spirits, the winged Air Sylphs, Merpeople of the water, Fire Salamanders and of course our Earth Gnomes! The spirits of the plants and trees are our Devas. The second category includes the Faery or Elfin Folk, who, believe it or not are quite often the same size as us humans and do not usually have wings. They are silent and invisible. Next, we have our beings such as the Loch Ness Monster, Unicorns and Trolls.
And finally we have a very interesting category – faeries who have chosen to be born into human form to help us to work more closely with the faery kingdom. These people are most sensitive because, of course, they have a faery soul! Just like angels, faeries will not become visible to us unless they are invited as they are quite shy! The more you dwell on these wonderful beings of light the closer they will come to you. Even reading fairy stories will infuse your life with magic. Notice how your pet responds as you become more in tune with the faery kingdom. They can see them, and with a bit of time and patience, so will you if you are lucky!
